THE FALLING HORSE

THE FALLING HORSE

by Julia Johnson is here!

Julia Johnson's The Falling Horse concerns itself with what is missing, misplaced, left, lost, fallen, and then, sometimes, and sometimes often, eventually found. The poems are of the findings' evidences, examples of the kind of truths sometimes seen with close and steady and almost still observation, as in a painting or in a photograph. Every world is mystery-filled in The Falling Horse, it tells us to believe in mystery, to let mysteries remain true to their unsayable ways. We are invited into an intricate space in which nothing is predictable, and everything is transparent and habitable in unexpected ways, These poems and the imagination which has provided them lend us time that's exponentially less limited.  These poems are spare, their ways unsparingly generous, every instance of noticed material, detail, language adds up.

Beauty Was the Case that They Gave Me

Factory Hollow Press is enormously pleased to announce the publication of its newest full-length title Beauty Was the Case that They Gave Me by Mark Leidner.

Beauty Was the Case that They Gave Me

Beauty Was The Case That They Gave Me is Mark Leidner's first collection of poems.

Gossip is the sound air makes
as it escapes a room
as that room’s only door
closes, or opens,
or is completely still.
It is the thinnest, and thickest
thing in the room.
It is the only exhibit in the museum,
really, if anyone was honest.
But honesty is a gold-colored farce,
at best. Gossip moves around and through
its branches like fall air,
or spring soil, still all around its roots.

(from "Gossip")

You are about to take a spacewalk
and I stop you in the airlock
by calling out your name
and as you spin around to face me
your hair splays out in the absence of gravity.
Not without this, I say
handing you your helmet.

(from "Charismatic Ambulance Driver")

Mark Leidner is the author of The Angel in the Dream of Our Hangover (Sator Press, 2011), a book of aphorisms. He grew up in Georgia and now lives in Northampton, Massachusetts.

CRASH DOME

FHP's first full-length title is a book-length poem by Alex Phillips, titled CRASH DOME. It is a book full of exploratory feelings and information. It is a book full of humor and spirituality. A book full of journey and staying put. Its motions are simultaneously turbulent and calm. Its visions are simultaneously mournful and celebratory. CRASH DOME offers a look at the insides of ideas and like many insides these idea insides are made of many different things working with each other and against each other and for each other--the result is radical and mystical and meditative. FHP is wildly honored to have published CRASH DOME.

Poets Brian Foley and Mike Young both put - CRASH DOME by Alex Phillips-on their lists of Best Poetry Books of 2010 over at No Tell Motel!
